DID YOU RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION FROM THE FEDERAL COURT?: FIND OUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN AND WHAT TO DO

1/9/2017

Approximately 600,000 individuals and legal entities -potential creditors of the Commonwealth Government of Puerto Rico – recently received by mail a notification from the Federal Court.

The recipients included individuals and companies that provide the government with materials and services, as well as bondholders, tax payers awaiting reimbursements, and pensioners.

This notification does not impact retiree pension and health benefits and requires no action from recipients with respect to those benefits.  At present, the Federal Court has not set any deadline by which creditors must file claims in the Title III Cases.

The COR is working with the Commonwealth Government to ensure that when any such deadline is set, the COR may file one claim on behalf of all retirees with respect to their pension and health benefits.
